A woman who left an angry message on her neighbour’s door accusing them of eating her takeaway has divided opinion – as many people admitted they also would have taken the food.
After receiving a notification that her pasta order had been dropped off, the customer was left baffled to find no sign of it when she looked outside her front door.
The delivery driver had sent a picture of the delivery on the doorstep as proof it had arrived safely, but it showed the food had accidentally been left it outside the wrong home.
With the food now gone, she assumed her neighbour had taken it without flagging the mistake and decided to leave an angry note in response.
Attaching the picture, she wrote: “Hi neighbor! I saw that you received my food! I hope it’s sitting well in your belly. I was really looking forward to that pasta.
“My delivery driver made a mistake but it would have been pretty simple for me to go outside and see it on your step instead.
“Also, I know you have it because [the driver] provides pictures upon delivery 😉 .”
It was shared to Reddit and sparked a debate as some said she was right to put the neighbour in their place.
But many criticised her for the “passive aggressive” note and said they would have taken the takeaway if it had landed on their doorstep, too.
One person commented to say: “In all fairness, what were they suppose to do? Go around knocking on doors and asking if they ordered food? Yeah, its an inconvenience for the person that ordered it, but they’ll easily get their money back.
“I’ll be honest, if somebody rings my doorbell, leaves food, then walks away, I won’t question it. It’s a sign from the Gods that I was meant to have this food.”
A second wrote: “Yeah majority of people wont go around asking neighbours if the food is yours during the pandemic.”
And another added: “This note is such a petty thing to do.”
