What's new

14 January 2014

I have begun work on two new pieces: a work for flute, clarinet, percussion and cello for HANATSU miroir which will be the centrepiece of a portrait concert in November 2014 in Strasbourg; and a large work for the Esprit Orchestra, which will be premiered in October 2014 at Koerner Hall, Toronto.

I have been named an Associate Composer of the Canadian Music Centre. An interview is forthcoming in the next issue of the Centre’s Ontario region journal. Also, a the North American premiere of my chamber piano concerto, A propos du concert de la semaine dernière, will be taking place at the Now Hear This! Festival in Edmonton in March.

Two new radio portraits are forthcoming: I will be the guest of Rodolphe Bruneau-Boulmier on his show le Jour d’avant (France Musique) on February 5th; and Mathieu Conquet has invited me to do a live performance with members of HANATSU miroir on le RenDez-Vous, France Musique, in May.

My extensive analytical article on Heinz Holliger’s First String Quartet has been published by the Swiss music journal Dissonanz. You can download it here.

French music critic Jean Daniel has devoted an entire hour of his radio program Jazzology to my CD The Tubular West. You can listen or download here.

Finally, a new monographic CD is in the works, featuring new recordings by Ensemble Proton Bern, HANATSU miroir and others.
