Moving
for piccolo oboe, viola and piano (2005-06)

Rapidity and density of thought, unmediated directness, a hypersensitivity in which everything 'registers' ; Moving explores the point at which delicacy turns into nervousness, sensitivity into violence. The impetus for the music's continuation is provided by a series of sudden and rather spastic interjections, which seem to point to something beyond the limits of what the discourse can productively contain. This 'wild-card' element at once propels the piece forward and makes it impossible to continue, a conflict which intensifies as the piece progresses.
